AHS Band Champions at High Plains Marching Festival

Sixteen outstanding bands competed in the Amarillo ISD 2010 High Plains Marching Festival on October 9th. Six bands advanced to the Finals. One band, the Amarillo High School Golden Sandie Marching Band, was named Champion of the Festival. Congratulations to every AHS Band member and to the AHS Band Directors!
The sixteen bands from all over the Texas Panhandle performed marvelously. The six finalists (Amarillo High School, Canyon High School, Hereford High School, Plainview High School, Randall High School, and Tascosa High School) were tremendous during their Finals performance. During the Field Assembly at the end of the finals, all of the bands lined the field with their Drum Majors in front. As the winners were being announced, a pause occurred before the second place was revealed with a comment over the PA system "The suspense is killing you, I know!". When the second place was announced and the AHS Band members knew they had won, they started jumping up and down with excitement wanting to cheer. Then, they were announced and erupted with their cheer and excitement! Congratulations again to the Amarillo High School Golden Sandie Marching Band! See photos and videos at Band Pics.
Now, it is time to concentrate on having an even better performance this Saturday. Focus and practice hard this week so the Amarillo High School Band Parents can cheer once again for our great students in the band.
